Behind every successful Smarter Payments Summit is a dedicated team working to ensure delegates make the very most of their time. From understanding current projects and sourcing priorities, through to building personalised meeting schedules, Delegate Sales Executive Amy Wilson plays a key role in helping senior payments professionals connect with the suppliers, technologies and insights that matter most to their organisations. We caught up with Amy to find out what she enjoys most about working on the Summit, the trends she’s seeing across the payments sector, and how she helps delegates maximise the value of attending…
What inspired you to join the Forum Events team and contribute to the success of the Smarter Payments Summit?
I was drawn to Forum Events because of its strong reputation for delivering high-quality events that create genuine value for both delegates and suppliers. The Smarter Payments Summit particularly appealed to me because it gave me the opportunity to learn about a fast-moving industry while helping senior professionals make valuable business connections. I’ve always been highly organised and enjoy building professional relationships, so the role felt like a natural fit. What I enjoy most is helping delegates discover new solutions to their current challenges and seeing the conversations that begin at the Summit develop into long-term business partnerships.
How do you see your role supporting senior payments industry executives in maximising their experience at the Smarter Payments Summit?
My role is to make sure every delegate gets maximum value from attending the Smarter Payments Summit. Before the event, I take the time to understand each delegate’s priorities, upcoming projects and supplier requirements by reviewing their booking information and speaking with them directly where appropriate.
That enables us to create a personalised itinerary of one-to-one meetings and seminar sessions that reflects what they’re actually looking to achieve. Afterwards, I also speak with delegates to gather feedback so we can continue improving the experience. It’s all about making sure their time at the Summit is productive, relevant and worthwhile.
What’s one key trend or challenge in the industry that you’re particularly excited to help delegates address through the Summit?
One of the biggest trends I’m seeing is how quickly the payments landscape is evolving, particularly around fraud prevention, AI, digital identity and changing customer expectations. It can be difficult for organisations to keep up with new technologies while also making sure they’re prioritising the right technologies and partners.
The Smarter Payments Summit is that it gives delegates the opportunity to have direct conversations with carefully selected suppliers who understand these challenges. Rather than spending weeks researching different providers, delegates can compare solutions, ask detailed questions and gain practical advice from industry experts all in one place, helping them make more informed decisions for their organisations.
What makes the Smarter Payments Summit unique as a platform for networking and problem-solving for senior payments professionals?
The biggest difference is that every delegate’s experience is tailored to their individual objectives. Rather than spending time researching suppliers, arranging meetings and trying to fit everything into a busy schedule, we do the hard work for them. Each delegate receives a personalised itinerary of pre-arranged one-to-one meetings with suppliers they’ve selected themselves, alongside seminar sessions and networking opportunities throughout the day. It means they can meet up to 12 relevant solution providers in a single day, while also exchanging ideas with fellow senior payments professionals, all at no cost to attend.
Outside of work, what motivates or inspires you to stay engaged with industry trends and challenges?
I enjoy keeping up to date with the payments industry through LinkedIn and industry news sites, where professionals share their insights, experiences, and challenges. This naturally increases my drive to support payment professionals with their needs by giving me a better understanding of the trends and priorities shaping the sector. Staying informed also allows me to create a better understanding of what they’re looking to achieve from events like the Smarter Payments Summit.
